GaitLab ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how
information is collected, used, disclosed, and retained when you use the GaitLab mobile application (the
"App").
1. Information We Collect
GaitLab does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name,
email address, or phone number. The App uses anonymous authentication — no sign-up or login is required.
The information we may collect includes:
- Video Data: When you submit a video for gait analysis, the video is sent to Google's
Gemini AI service for processing. Videos under 20 MB are sent directly in memory; larger videos are
temporarily uploaded to Firebase Storage and automatically deleted immediately after
the analysis completes.
- Injury Context (optional): If you choose to provide injury history before an analysis,
this information is sent alongside your video to improve the AI analysis. It is processed in real time
and is not stored on our servers. Injury details are never sent to analytics
services.
- Device Preferences: Settings such as your premium unlock status and daily submission
count are stored locally on your device only (via SharedPreferences). This data is not transmitted to
our servers.
- Camera and Photo Library Access: The App requests access to your device's camera and
photo library to let you record or select videos for analysis. No photos or videos are accessed without
your action.
- Analytics Data: We collect anonymized, event-based usage analytics (e.g., feature usage
counts, app errors) through Firebase Analytics. This data cannot identify you personally and does not
include any health or injury information.
- Support Emails: If you contact us through the in-app feedback form, the message text
and the email address you provide are stored in our database solely to respond to your inquiry.
2. Use of Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Process your running videos and deliver AI-powered gait analysis results.
- Enforce daily submission limits on your device.
- Monitor anonymized usage trends to improve the App.
- Respond to your support inquiries.
- Validate promotional codes, if applicable.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information. Your information may be disclosed only as follows:
- AI Processing: Videos and optional injury context are sent to Google's Gemini AI
service for analysis. Google's use of this data is governed by
Google Cloud's Terms of
Service.
- Analytics Providers: Anonymized usage data is shared with Firebase Analytics to help us
understand how the App is used.
- By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information is necessary to
respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect
the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share information as permitted or required by
applicable law.
4. Security of Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your information. Video
data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and is not stored beyond the duration of
processing. Despite our efforts, no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against interception
or misuse.
5. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
- Video Uploads: Videos are processed in real time and deleted
immediately
after your analysis is complete. We do not retain your videos.
- Analysis Results: Gait analysis results (form scores, coaching recommendations) are
generated in real time and displayed in the App. They are not stored on our servers —
once you close the analysis screen, the results are gone.
- Injury Context: Any injury information you provide is used only during the analysis
request and is not stored on our servers or sent to analytics.
- Device Preferences: Premium status, submission counts, and settings are stored locally
on your device and persist until you uninstall the App or clear its data.
- Analytics Data: Anonymized usage analytics are retained for up to 14 months by
Firebase Analytics (Google's default retention period). This data cannot identify you personally.
- Support Correspondence: If you contact us via the in-app feedback form, we retain your
message and email address for up to 12 months to handle your inquiry, after which it is deleted.
- Purchase Records: In-app purchase records are managed by Apple (App Store) and Google
(Play Store). We store a local flag on your device indicating your premium status; we do not store
purchase receipts on our servers.
- Promotional Code Redemptions: If you redeem a promo code, a record of the redemption
is stored in our database to prevent re-use. This contains only an anonymous identifier and the code
used — no personal information.
When data is no longer needed for the purposes outlined above, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
6. Data Deletion
Because GaitLab does not require accounts and does not store analysis results or videos, most of your data
exists only on your device. To clear all local data, simply uninstall the App.
If you have contacted us via the feedback form or redeemed a promo code and wish to have that data deleted,
please send an email to kociubin+gaitlab@gmail.com with the
subject line "Data Deletion Request". We will process your request within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last
updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
